still working to help God make this World a better place
“My kingdom is not of this world.”
The events of Good Friday make that blatantly clear. In late afternoon, after unimaginable agony, Jesus is dead, like a criminal, on a Cross.
However, this Friday is good, very good, as it revealed God’s life of love which has, over the two millennia inspired so many people.
In 2026, there are approximately 2.38 billion Christians – 1.27 billion Roman Catholics.
However, belonging is one thing. Behaving is something else – and far more important.
In Luke 17:20-21, Jesus tells the Pharisees that the Kingdom of God is not an observable, physical realm, but rather a spiritual reality existing "within you" or "in your midst."
For me, as kingdom is a state and God is love, the Kingdom of God is a state of love.
In other words, where love rules, God’s kingdom is present. In the heart of a committed Christian as well as in a community of committed Christians – like a monastery, or indeed this community here at this chapel.
Love generates peace, joy and unity.
Though the world is in turmoil: think Ukraine, Gaza, Sudan, Iran, Lebanon – and all those areas where drought is driving people into exile. You can change your own life.
Ask yourself, “Is my heart ruled by God’s love? Is my home, my family?”
This Easter is an invitation for that to happen. Fall in love with God and you will see how your life is enriched.
